Sajal Sasanka Sarkar was born in 1971 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He lives and works in Vadodara (Baroda), Gujarat.
Sajal completed his BVA in Painting and Drawing from The Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata. He completed his Post Diploma in Printmaking from the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara in 2001.
Sajal held his first Solo Show, Surfacing Contradiction at the Cymroza Art Gallery, Mumbai and has participated in over 25 group shows in Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Vadodara, London and Yangon.
Sajal has been a part of various residences, art camps and workshops.
Sajal is represented by Rukshaan Art.
